38 percent in new poll say they feel 'exhaustion' over prospect of rematch between Biden, Trump (The Hill) – Many Americans are not excited about a potential rematch between President Biden and former President Trump, according to a new poll, with more respondents saying they feel “exhaustion” over the prospects than anything else.A 38 percent plurality of respondents reported they felt “exhaustion” over the idea of a rematch, according to the Yahoo News/YouGov poll. The other emotions that people said the rematch inspires are not much more positive, with 29 percent feeling "fear" and 23 percent "sadness and fear."Far fewer people felt positively about the potential of a rematch, with 23 percent reporting "hope," 8 percent saying they felt "pride" and 7 percent saying "gratitude."The poll shows a strong lack of enthusiasm about a Biden-Trump rematch, which, despite the lagging support, seems like one of the likeliest outcomes of the 2024 primary season. Where do El Niño and La Niña get their names? (NEXSTAR) – You may have heard La Niña is over, and El Niño is getting ready to move in. It's one thing to understand what that means for our weather, but what do the words "El Niño" and "La Niña" even mean?Anyone who's taken even a week of Spanish class knows the terms literally translate into "the boy" and "the girl." But it's not immediately obvious what that has to do with climate patterns. The phenomenon's original name, El Niño de Navidad, gives us a few more answers. It was coined by South American fisherman in the 1600s who noticed the unusually warm waters in the Pacific that define an El Niño season, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration explains. They named the warm waters after Jesus, literally the "little boy of Christmas," because El Niño typically peaks in December, around Christmastime. By 2022, at least 13 major U.S. cities had seen home values go up by more than 200% – i.e. triple – since 2000. The top six of that batch were all in California. But the past year has been different. Some California homes were even starting to sell below asking price (gasp!) amid the cooling market. California homes are selling below asking price: Can you bid low? What happened in those California cities that saw their home prices triple in just about 20 years? Real estate brokerage Clever checked back on the data in 2023 and found that home prices there have largely been staying pretty flat. In one city, they're even going down. San Francisco, for example, had a typical home value of $356,800 in 2000. It shot up to $1.4 million in...
